Some pundits have predicted that Liverpool’s “daylight robbery” will end tomorrow, and as much as I hate to agree, this clash of the league leaders look like a difficult one to crack for the Reds (Last time Liverpool win at the Bridge was in January 2004). In an away game with one of the Top 4 team, Liverpool just cannot afford to allow the opponents to score first. However, if history was to repeat itself, Liverpool could be triumphant with another narrow win. Let’s hope this will be at the expense of a Chelski player being sent off.
Liverpool might be without Keane, and this means Rafa might need to rely on the inexperience Ngog to take his place, if he is planning on a 4-4-2 formation, with Kuyt being the other forward. Else, it could be a 4-5-1, and that can’t be good. Granted Kuyt has found his scoring form, but against a strong Chelski’s back 4, Stevie G and his midfield posse better have some tricks up their sleeves.
Comparing player to player, Scolari’s Chelseah is solid squad, oozing with quality at every position, albeit the current injury crisis. No Drogba, Deco, Carvalho and Coles, yet they manage to maintain their winning and scoring sprees. Rafa’s army this season has an abundance of belief, determination and confidence in them, and have proven that they are capable of coming back from the dead, even without Torres.
Liverpool should aim for a draw, but if they win, I will totally quit smoking!
On another note, my brother will eat a cat, if Hull wins the Premiership. Gross!
